Dick Award; after his recommendation, the novel Mysterium by Toronto's Robert Charles Wilson — which Sawyer had reviewed for the Canadian arts newspaper Now, but had not been submitted for award consideration — is given the prize.
  • British edition of Far-Seer appears.

By the end of the year, The Terminal Experiment has garnered more Nebula recommendations than any work in the thirty-year history of SFWA — more than double the number of its nearest competitor and so many, in fact, that it exceeds the capacity of SFWA's database to record them all.
  • End of an Era wins the Fifth Annual HOMer Award, voted on by the 39,000 members worldwide of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Literature Forum on CompuServe.
  • The Japanese edition of Far-Seer is shortlisted for the Seiun Award ("the Japanese Hugo") in the category of Best Foreign Novel; meanwhile, Far-Seer comes in fifth place in Hayakawa SF Magazine's poll of the Best Science Fiction of 1994.
  • On Spec: The First Five Years is published, containing Rob's Aurora and Arthur Ellis Award winning short story "Just Like Old Times."

  • Rob's home page debuts on World Wide Web; multiple commentators call it the best author's page anywhere on the net.

July

  • Gale Research's 81st volume of Something About the Author is published, containing a five-page profile of Rob.
  • British edition of Foreigner appears.

August

  • End of an Era receives an official Hugo Award honorable mention, coming in eighth place.
